Detox! Why?

Do you find times when you feel less than your best? It's not a cold, or flu or anything you can determine, you just feel sluggish, achy, bloated and just plain 'not so hot'? Believe it or not, this can be a sign of toxic buildup in your body. Other signs can include weight gain, inability to lose weight, and no energy.

Not surprisingly, most toxins are stored in your fat cells. The the typical American diet can put amazingly large amounts of garbage type toxins in our cells and they become almost impossible to eliminate on a daily basis. Some of those toxins stay there for the life of the cell.

Nature has provided us with bodily functions to process toxins but as we age we lose the ultimate process of these organs like the liver. We also have lymph glands to aid in eliminating toxins. A network of tubing brings cell waste of the cells from the body to the elimination process of organs such as the lymphatic glands, thymus, and spleen. The kidneys and bowels function is beneficial to removing toxins on a daily basis but they often lose their primary abilities as we age, and if we have been victims of an unhealthy nutrition program.

A natural detox might be the best to start. Nothing harsh or radical. Drinking pure water daily is a good beginning. Exercise daily will help all the bodily functions to work better. Incorporating high fiber foods such as bran, whole grains, fresh fruit and vegetables will also improve toxin elimination. If you haven't been eating much bran or fiber, start slowly, a sudden addition can do the opposite and block elimination.

If you like it, drink some detox tea. There are some excellent herbal teas available for this purpose. Coffee is a diuretic so if you are a coffee drinker, be sure to balance it with plenty of water. Pay attention to what you eat to have a good elimination system and a healthier life. Avoid toxins, fresh is best and move your body. See if doing any of this helps you eliminate that not so hot feeling. If not, you may want to look into a commercial detox. But try nature's way first.
